We wanted a “Pride” shirt that didn’t necessarily scream cheesy, capitalistic, stereotypical pride shirt you could find at your local Target or Walmart. A shirt that could be used year-round instead of just one month. We start with our logo in a variation of colors symbolizing unity, diversity, and power. Very simple, not saying much but the conversation is still there. The back design on our shirt has a circle made up of curved lines that are not touching. Although our circle is filled with “imperfect” lines that are curved & not straight it still creates a perfect circle. Just like how LGBTQ people may not be straight but we are still just as a whole, perfect as anyone else. “Love whoever the hell you want” written over the circle because it won’t make a difference to our already existing “imperfect circle”.

For this collection, we played around with our existing logo and made it fit the theme of space. I made the X and the heart in bubble font while making the line through the two symbols a ring that you would see around a planet like Jupiter. The reason I created this design is that I finally started to forgive my decision in moving far away from my family (states away). Without me taking space for myself, I wouldn’t have been as confident in my talents and skills nor would I have been able to tell myself “I can do this!” A lot of times in cultures that value family, we become desensitized to the ongoing choices that are made for us or the pressure of what it means to make our family proud. It’s Okay To Take Space because without it we wouldn’t be so individually grown.

The X in our logo represents GIVING love, while the O is representative of RECEIVING love. The line through both symbols represents “Drawing The Line” and also the importance of balance between the two actions of giving and receiving love. We wanted it to be a symbol of self-love above all.
